Hey everyone! It's been a while since our last blog update. The last year has been a whirlwind. Work on the LIYANA rough cut is going very well, and we have exciting news to share... but that will have to wait until our next post! For now we're going to give you a little peek into the places our co-director Aaron's been traveling for a variety of films over the past year.
For a large part of 2013 Aaron was working on a travel TV show in China called "Expedition China."
It was a co-production with National Geographic, Discovery Velocity, and China Central TV. While the schedule was grueling, he felt lucky to get to see so much of China's amazing diversity, from where the Great Wall meets the ocean in the east, to where it disappears in the desert to the west!
He experienced many extremes... from the freezing Mongolian desert, to the tropical islands in the South. Aaron got to see the over-the-top fireworks of Chinese New Year, filmed overnight at sea on a small finishing boat, hung out with Kung Fu monks, and so much more!

Aaron's next adventure was a short trip to Burkina Faso in West Africa.
He was working with the awesome production company, Milkhaus, on a short film for Refugees International about the effects of climate change in the region. He met a lot of really lovely people, and was moved by their stories. It's becoming very difficult to grow the food they need and many people are being forced to sell off their resources just to survive. We are hoping the film can raise awareness and make a difference.

In the fall of 2013, Aaron got to work in Jamaica!
He was working for the amazing co-directors, Emmy-winner Davis Coombe and Oscar-winner Daniel Junge, for an upcoming documentary called Alpha Boys. The film follows the history and current students of Alpha Boys School for street kids. Their program has created many of Jamaica's top musicians over the years.

Lastly, in spring of 2014, Aaron returned for his 3rd production trip in Yap.
He always enjoys going back to work on the beautiful island. He's made some really great friends in Yap who make him feel at home... including an affectionate pet bat!
